Freyad Concept and Motivation

Postby Leodagan » 03 Apr 2016, 16:06

  • Free shard.
Free shard means this server is free to play for everyone under the rules of Freyad.
It also means this server is evolving slowly, because all work is done voluntarily. Developers, World Builders and Gamemasters have real life work, family and other hobbies to attend to.
Hence we appreciate every contribution in form of reporting bugs, missing items and similar. There is a dedicated category in the forum, if you want to help improve Freyad.

  • Early Alpha stage.
Early Alpha means there are still a lot of bugs including but not limited to missing mobs and items, wrong calculated spells, weird behavior of Masterlevel abilities, a “black whole” for money called housing and so on.

  • Live similarity and customization
Freyad tends to be Live like. Nonetheless, implementation difficulties and "easy rules set" could result in customizing some part of the game.

  • International server.
Our official language is English. We encourage you to write English in-game to enable communication between all players. Especially on broad chat and in the forum you should stick to English.

Player Rights and Obligations

Postby Leodagan » 03 Apr 2016, 16:08

  • Account security
All account security is the sole responsibility of the player. This includes hacking protection, password protection, virus protection, and anything else that has to do with computer or account security.
Don't use the same password on any other freeshard!

  • Free to play
As already mentioned in the “Concept of Freyad and Motivation” Freyad is a freeshard, hence the players are free to play here while following the Freyad rules, but have no claim on doing so.

  • Server availability
There is no claim on server availability.
Especially during the Early Alpha stage server crashes and freezes will happen unexpected. Server reboots may be done on short notice to fix critical bugs.

  • No claim on virtual possessions
There is neither claim on accounts nor any in-game content, including but not limited to characters, items and money.

Postby Leodagan » 03 Apr 2016, 16:15

  • Staff Rights concerning Changes
The Freyad staff has the right to execute changes affecting the game server itself, the forum and the rules in any part of the Freyad community at any time.

  • Freyad Staff Guild
InGame Freyad Staff will always be recognizable as members of the <Freyad Staff> guild.

  • InGame Help
The best way to get inGame support is via the Freyad Bug or Issue Tracker.
If it is really urgent try /who Freyad – and see if someone is online. Or raise an /appeal and hope someone is online and has time to help you out.

  • Freyad Staff speaks English
Feel free to ask staff members if they speak other languages, but default language is English.

  • Behavior towards Staff members
Always be nice and polite to the Freyad Staff. Keep in mind that they are spending their spare time to help players and are about to help you. Follow their instructions without hesitation.
Behaving bold or even insult Freyad Staff will lead to disciplinary actions up to Banishment.

  • Impersonating Staff members
Impersonating a Freyad Staff member is strictly forbidden and will result in disciplinary actions.

  • Reimbursement
Staff members will neither reimburse nor hand out freely any inGame content, including but not limited to items and freelevel.

inGame Behaviour

Postby Leodagan » 03 Apr 2016, 16:17

  • Chat language
We encourage all players to write in English to enable a communication with other players. The broadchat language is English.

  • Chat behavior
The chat areas should be used to enable a normal flow of gameplay or dialogue. Players should use the in-game chat with caution and respect. Disruptive behavior including but not limited to flaming, writing with caps or spamming will not be tolerated.

  • Log-in of several accounts
Players are allowed to log-in several accounts in PvE areas as long as they play them by themselves or just stick them and DO NOT use 3rd party tools (please take a look into the Bugs and Abuses Sections for more detail).
Log-in of several accounts in PvP area is forbidden; there is only one exception: you are allowed to park ONE character for buffbot usage at the entrance of a PvP dungeon (like Darkness Falls, Labyrinth or Passage of Conflict) or at the Main Border Keep of your realm.

  • Cross-realming
Players are forbidden to log-in different accounts in different realms at the same time.

  • Honor in combat
You may NEITHER kill steal NOR leech experience from members of your own realm. Kill stealing or XP leeching is defined as uninvited, repetitive initiation of combat against monsters that are already in combat with another player from your realm -OR- uninvited, repetitive healing of a realm-mate in combat with a monster.

We always encourage players to work out these types of issues on their own. Please take the time to talk to each other and discover if this was really a case of Kill Stealing or Leeching OR if the other player only wanted to help you, BEFORE you contact customer support. The /Appeal system should only be used as a last resort in these cases.

  • It is War!
When engaging in PvP fights Honor in Combat needs NOT to be regarded. It is war! Nobody can forbid you attacking an enemy.
Being an honorable opponent might earn you respect from realm mates and enemies alike, but no one is obliged to be honorable in a war!

Bug Exploits and Abuses

Postby Leodagan » 03 Apr 2016, 16:21

  • 3rd Party tools
Any kind of 3rd party tool is strictly forbidden. This includes but is not limited to all kind of hardware and software modifications like radar, speed hack, macro tools in keyboard, stuck a key with a tooth-stick and any other automation.
Using of 3rd party tools will result in disciplinary actions dependent on the nature and severity of the issue.

  • Abuses
Players are obliged to report any abuses within the game. This can be done in the forum via the Issue Tracker

  • Bug exploits
If you think you've found a bug or an exploit or see another player abusing one, make screenshots and/or a video of it and open a ticket in the Issue Tracker in the forum or try to get inGame help from a Gamemaster if it's urgent. Keep in mind there will be no actions against a player/bug without proof!
Any bug exploit is strictly forbidden, must be stopped immediately and must be reported to Freyad Staff quickly to prevent any abuse accusation.

  • Inappropriate behavior
Any witness of inappropriate behavior must be reported to Freyad Staff, this can be easily done by the Issue Tracker in the Forum.

  • Flames
Don't ruin other people's fun by complaining in /broad about supposed cheaters or by reacting to accusations. Be aware that unjustified accusations and spamming may lead to Disciplinary Actions as well.

Freyad encourages you to choose a name that reflects the fantasy world, the medieval time period and the tales of the different realms you are playing in.

  • Dont's
The following guidelines describe the types of names you can NOT use, and apply to first names, surnames, as well as guild names.
    • You may not use any names that violate the Freyad rules. This includes the use of names that are hateful, defamatory, racist, ethnically offensive, obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit or useless names.
    • You may not use any names that are similar to a Freyad staff member name.
    • You may not use names that refer to or are in any kind related to diseases or drugs.
    • You may not use names that are religiously or historically significant.
    • You may not use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the above rules.
    • You may not use names where a combination of the first and last name violates any of the above rules.
    • These rules apply to names in all languages.
  • Naming policy enforcement
If you violate any part of the above Naming Policy, these are the steps that will be followed to address the issue.
    • Usually the Gamemaster will contact you to discuss the manner of the violation
    • You may either tell the Gamemaster directly a new name or you can open a ticket in the Issue Tracker within 24 hours.
    • If you want to discuss the renaming please feel free to address your concerns to the Gamemaster directly or to address them in your ticket.
    • If no new name is chosen by the player and no ticket is opened within 24 hours the Freyad staff will choose one for the player.

Violations and Disciplinary Actions

Postby Leodagan » 03 Apr 2016, 16:29

  • Benefit of doubt
Violations of our Freyad rules will be investigated and all players are given the benefit of the doubt when involved in any violation issue.

  • "Three strikes and you're out" policy
In general, Freyad staff will always try to use a "3 strikes and you're out" policy in regards to violation issues.
This will be highly dependent on the nature and severity of the issue though.

  • No action taken.
Once we have investigated a violation issue and find no proof of violation, we will not take any action.

  • Level 1: Warning
The GM will open a new thread in the internal Gamemaster category (can only be seen by GMs and Admins) with the heading:
    [Level 1 warning] <Charactername>
The thread will have information relating to the violation, explaining what happened, why it happened and what it means.
The warning will apply for all accounts.
If no further violations occur, this warning will be removed after one year.
If found to be online the player will be contacted in-game and directly warned. The player will be informed what happened, why it happened and what exactly it means.

  • Level 2: Suspension
The GM will open a new thread in the internal Gamemaster category with the heading:
    [Level 2: Suspension] <Charactername>
The suspension will apply for one or all accounts based on the severity of the violation.
The violator is removed from the game, and not allowed back in for a period ranging from 1 to 7 days, depending on the severity of the violation. If there are reoccurring violations then the suspension length will be increased. This is intended to let the player cool-down and think about his actions.
If no further violations occur, this mark will be removed after one year.
If found to be online the player will be contacted in-game and removed from play to begin the suspension.

  • Level 3:Banishment
The GM will open a new thread in the internal Gamemaster category with the heading:
    [Level 3 Banishment] <Charactername>
The banishment will apply for one or all accounts based on the severity of the violation.
The affected accounts will be permanently terminated, closed, and not allowed to be re-opened.

  • Decision on level of action
The level of action taken is dependent upon the severity of the violation that occurs and the violation history on the account. If there are reoccurring violations then the level of action will increase until ultimately banishment for all accounts takes place.
